One of Aryabhatas greatest achievements were that he was the first to use zero and the place value system. He used a symbol for zero as a place holder for the powers of ten. After he used a symbol as a place holder others also followed him. The use of zero is very important. Without zero we would have no decimal system. This is because zero holds the place value. One other reason that zero is so important is because without it there would be no negative numbers. This is because a negative number is less than zero. Aryabhata should win a Nobel Prize for this because without these two things we could not have money today. Aryabhatas use of zero greatly contributed to our world today.
